UMA humanoid robot with real-time learning

European robotics firm UMA has unveiled a humanoid robot designed to acquire new industrial skills through demonstration rather than manual programming.

The robot features human-scale proportions and a neutral visor, with a soft technical outer shell and visible mechanical joints. The design is intended for use in existing industrial infrastructure, such as factories and warehouses, where the robots can use standard tools and work alongside human teams.

The Real-Time Learning platform enables the machine to observe human tasks and refine its execution through practice. This approach is intended to reduce the engineering time required to deploy robots across different industrial settings, addressing labour shortages in sectors such as logistics and manufacturing.

“We believe intelligent robots will become part of the solution, not as a substitute for people, but as a new class of tools,” said Rémi Cadène, CEO and co-founder of UMA. He stated that the objective is to build machines that integrate into industrial operations and become reliable partners over time.

Founded in 2025, UMA is headquartered in Paris with teams in London and Geneva. The company argues that Europe’s industrial base and scientific research provide a strong foundation for leading the development of physical AI to address structural labour shortages in advanced economies.
