Teledyne e2v, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies, has launched the Perciva 5D camera, designed for short-range 3D imaging in industrial, retail, and robotic applications. The device uses angular sensitive pixel technology to enable 2D and 3D image fusion from a single CMOS sensor.
The camera includes an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that allows users to run customised artificial intelligence models directly on the hardware. Unlike many existing systems, the Perciva 5D operates using ambient light, removing the requirement for external near-infrared (NIR) light sources in indoor or outdoor environments.
The system is factory-calibrated and designed for integration into robotic arms, cobots, and retail self-checkout systems. It integrates with Teledyne’s Spinnaker 4 API and other standard machine-vision software platforms.
Technical specifications for the Perciva 5D include:
- Weight: 230 grams.
- Power consumption: Less than 5W.
- Interface: GigE Vision (GenICam-compliant) with M12 connectors.
- Housing: IP6x-rated for harsh environments.
- Output: Pixel-aligned 3D depth maps and point-cloud data.
