SiLC 4D large-scale industrial inspection scanner

SiLC Technologies has introduced Eyeonic Edge, a 4D area scanner designed for high-precision inspection of large stationary objects. The system is intended for use in automotive, aerospace, and shipbuilding manufacturing, as well as warehouse automation.
The Eyeonic Edge delivers sub-millimetre range resolution at distances of up to 10 metres. It features a 40×40 degree field of view with real-time zooming capabilities. The scanner uses silicon photonics to measure both the 3D position and the instantaneous velocity of every point, a capability the company refers to as 4D sensing.
The system is designed to operate on challenging surfaces, such as very dark or reflective objects, and functions in various lighting conditions, including bright sunlight or dim warehouses. It has a measurement rate of 1 million points per second and is classified as an eye-safe Class 1 laser product.
Applications for the technology include automated quality control for panel alignment, gap and flush measurement, and structural defect detection. It can also be used to create detailed digital twins for the preventative maintenance of mining and construction equipment.
“Eyeonic Edge extends our high-precision sensing platform to large-scale 3D inspection and measurement,” said Mehdi Asghari, CEO of SiLC Technologies. He noted that the system allows manufacturers to automate a broader range of processes and move toward fully autonomous operations.
