Siemens and UK-based robotics firm Humanoid have successfully tested a wheeled humanoid robot at a Siemens electronics factory in Erlangen. The robot, designated HMND 01 Alpha, was used to perform autonomous logistics tasks as part of a project to integrate physical artificial intelligence into industrial operations.

The robot was developed using the NVIDIA physical AI stack and is integrated with the Siemens Xcelerator platform. The testing follows a strategic partnership between Siemens and NVIDIA to develop adaptive manufacturing sites. The HMND 01 Alpha is designed specifically for industrial environments and features advanced manipulation capabilities for handling materials.

The deployment uses NVIDIA’s simulation technology to accelerate the development and testing of robotic behaviours before they are applied on the factory floor. Siemens intends to use the data from these tests to scale the use of humanoid robots across its manufacturing network.

Humanoid, founded in 2024, employs approximately 200 researchers and engineers. The company is focused on developing commercially viable robotic solutions for real-world industrial applications, with operations in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.
