Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer SANY Group has shipped its first fleet of pure-electric autonomous mining trucks to South America, marking the company’s initial deployment of autonomous mining technology in the region.

The project centres on the SKT110Ei autonomous truck fleet and includes a cloud-based intelligent dispatching system, roadside infrastructure, and lifecycle maintenance services. The vehicles utilise a drive-by-wire chassis and multi-sensor perception systems to navigate complex mine sites without manual intervention.

SANY Intelligent Mining, the subsidiary responsible for the technology, reported that as of July 2026, it had deployed more than 300 autonomous trucks globally. These fleets have logged over 13 million kilometres and transported 41 million cubic metres of material.

The company also recently introduced a cabless pure-electric mining truck equipped with a liquid-cooled dual-gun charging system. The vehicle operates in three modes: fully autonomous driving, remote takeover, and on-site manual takeover.

A SANY spokesperson stated the company will continue to invest in autonomous mining technology to improve the safety and operational efficiency of global mining operations.
