Connectivity infrastructure firm NetcoreNetwork has launched a decentralised networking ecosystem designed to allow industrial edge devices and robotics to communicate directly without third-party intermediaries.

The platform, named Causeway, provides peer-to-peer device connectivity by handling identity provision, authentication, and connection management locally. The system is targeted at industrial Internet of Things environments, enabling secure connections for remote access, resource sharing, and real-time video transmission.

By bypassing centralised cloud servers, the infrastructure allows devices to share storage and computing power across local environments. The architecture includes decentralised relays as a fallback mechanism to maintain connectivity if direct peer-to-peer links are interrupted.

Greg Tseng, architect and co-founder of NetcoreNetwork, said the infrastructure removes unnecessary architectural complexity and eliminates a centralised single point of failure for device connectivity.
