Mantis Robotics fenceless dual-arm industrial robot

Mantis Robotics has introduced the MR-X, a dual-arm industrial robot designed to operate alongside humans without safety cages. The robot was unveiled at the Automate 2026 exhibition in Chicago and is intended for use in manufacturing, logistics, and retail environments.
The MR-X features a 70lb (31.7kg) lifting capacity and can reach speeds of up to 10.6 metres per second. It uses the company’s SafetyCore platform, a reflex system that processes environmental data in real time. This allows the robot to react autonomously to human presence and avoid collisions without stopping operations or requiring external sensors.
The system is designed for bimanual assembly, material transfer, and package sorting. It features code-free programming and digital twin technology to simplify deployment. The company stated the MR-X builds on the technology used in its MR-1 model, which is already certified to ISO 10218 and ISO 13849 safety standards.
The robot’s biomimetic structure is intended to provide both strength and dexterity for complex tasks. It can be deployed in fixed installations or integrated into mobile robot platforms. Mantis Robotics claims the system runs up to six times faster than conventional collaborative robots (cobots) while maintaining safety protocols.
“Don’t mistake this for another humanoid robot. It’s a first-in-class dual-arm robot that outperforms both cobots and humanoids, in terms of both speed and safety,” said Gerry Vannuffelen, CEO of Mantis Robotics. He added that the technology unlocks mass deployment of fenceless robotics in the real world.
