Semiconductor assembly specialist Kulicke and Soffa has partnered generative AI developer Lavorro to develop enhanced smart manufacturing software.

The collaboration aims to provide customers with actionable insights, expert-guidance, and knowledge reuse across the semiconductor value chain.

Lavorro’s platform, including FabAssist.ai and ToolAssist.ai, employ patented natural language processing and machine learning to deliver virtual assistants like “Lucy”. These assistants are designed to support diagnosing issues, optimising recipes, and automating maintenance workflows to enhance both mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) and mean-time-between-failures (MTBF).

These assistants can also help formalise expert institutional knowledge to accelerate onboarding, decision-making, and performance throughout the broad semiconductor manufacturing value stream.

“We are excited to partner with Lavorro to introduce a new class of smart manufacturing capabilities,” said Shawn Sarbacker, Vice President, Smart Manufacturing Solutions Business Unit at Kulicke & Soffa. “By integrating our proven solutions, such as the APTURA equipment and KNeXt connectivity and fleet management, with Lavorro’s generative AI-enabled platform, we are positioned to differentiate ourselves among the world’s leading advanced packaging platforms. This empowers customers to unlock the full value of their data, enhance factory performance, reduce operational cost, and scale expertise through intelligent knowledge capture.”

“Our collaboration with K&S marks a significant milestone in operationalising and value-adding AI across semiconductor manufacturing and equipment services, including in the advanced packaging space,” said Ankush Oberoi, CEO at Lavorro. “Generative AI enables us to capture, synthesise, and disseminate engineering knowledge in unprecedented ways — scaling expertise, improving uptime, and driving continuous improvement.”
