Finnish firm IQM Quantum Computers has acquired selected assets of Berlin-based Quantistry GmbH to integrate industrial simulation software with its quantum hardware. The acquisition includes proprietary software applications, algorithms, and intellectual property focused on the automotive, aerospace, chemical, and pharmaceutical industrial sectors. The acquisition has significant future potential implications for industrial digital twins.
The acquired technology includes a machine learning layer designed to allow industrial researchers to simulate chemical compounds without deep expertise in quantum computing. The framework automatically selects computational pathways across classical high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum backends to model molecular and physical properties.
“True commercialisation of quantum computing requires more than powerful hardware. It requires a bridge between hardware, software, and real industrial applications,” said Jan Goetz, CEO and Co-Founder of IQM Quantum Computers. He added that the move accelerates the company’s software development timeline and enables the delivery of cloud-accessible simulation to enterprise customers.
The transaction follows IQM’s recent business combination with Real Asset Acquisition Corp (RAAQ), which established the company as the first European quantum computer developer to list on the Nasdaq. IQM confirmed it will retain Quantistry’s technical staff, including specialists in quantum chemistry and software engineering, to manage the integration of the cloud-native platform.
IQM plans to transition Quantistry’s existing industrial relationships to its own brand. The company aims to provide a system where enterprises can move from classical simulation to quantum acceleration within a single ecosystem, allowing for the continuous optimisation of industrial R&D workflows.
