Hitachi manufacturing automation subsidiary JR Automation is building a new global headquarters in Michigan. The new headquarters will provide a global base for smart manufacturing developments.

Yasuhiro Takeuchi, president and CEO of Hitachi America, said, “By strengthening JR Automation’s capabilities in Michigan, we hope to create a groundbreaking technology hub for ‘One Hitachi’ that combines digital twins, edge computing, and AI (artificial intelligence).”

The construction of the new headquarters follows Hitachi’s acquisition of German robotics SI company MA micro automation and its expansion in Singapore.

The new building will cost $72.8 million. The building is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.
