Digi International has launched an industrial cellular router designed for secure connectivity in utilities and oil and gas infrastructure. The Digi IX25 integrates 5G networking with edge computing and is compliant with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA).

The IX25 is engineered for hazardous environments, with an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +75 °C. It carries certifications including C1D2, ATEX, and MIL-STD-810H. The device features four integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports to eliminate the need for external switches in field cabinets, reducing potential failure points and installation costs.

“Digi IX25 is our answer to what industrial customers have been asking for: one rugged solution that delivers 5G connectivity, integrated edge computing, and a lifecycle designed for long-term industrial deployments,” said Tony Puopolo, President of Digi Managed Solutions.

The router is powered by a quad-core processor and supports Linux containers for edge analytics and SCADA integration. It allows organisations to run applications from AWS IoT Greengrass or Microsoft Azure IoT directly on the device. The platform also supports eSIM technology for remote carrier provisioning and zero-touch deployment in the field.

Management is handled through the Digi Remote Manager platform, which now includes natural language processing capabilities. This allows operators to use AI assistants to query device fleets, automate workflows, and generate configuration insights.
