Enterprise mobility firm DecisionPoint Technologies has acquired 5th Wave Mobile Technology to expand its deployment of industrial data capture and radio-frequency identification (RFID) hardware.

The acquisition integrates 5th Wave’s expertise in rugged mobile computing and barcoding systems, which are employed in manufacturing, aerospace, and supply chain environments. The combined entity will focus on automating physical workflows and modernising frontline operations through embedded sensor technology.

5th Wave, founded in 2006, specialises in enterprise data collection hardware and software integration for complex industrial facilities. DecisionPoint stated the merger will broaden the technical resources available for deploying point-of-sale, asset management, and industrial printing infrastructure.

Brian Bukowski, chief executive of DecisionPoint Technologies, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to support customers across complex operational environments.
