Dassault Systèmes is partnering Kyoto-based OMRON to integrate information technology (IT) with operational technology (OT) in manufacturing. The collaboration links Dassault’s 3D simulation software with OMRON’s industrial automation hardware to create unified virtual twins of production systems.
The partnership connects the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with OMRON’s Sysmac industrial automation platform. This allows manufacturers to design, simulate, and validate production lines in a virtual environment before physical installation. The system is designed to reduce commissioning times and the risks associated with manual errors in factory setup.
Once a production line is operational, real-time data from sensors and robots is fed back into the virtual twin. This allows operators to compare actual performance with simulated models, enabling predictive maintenance and the fine-tuning of logistics flows.
“With OMRON, we are building living production systems, AI-driven, self-improving, and software-defined, where the virtual and physical worlds are fused into one continuous loop of learning,” said Pascal Daloz, chief executive of Dassault Systèmes.
The companies have demonstrated the technology, with a showcase focusing on how digital twins can be used to operate production systems more efficiently by testing safety and maintenance scenarios virtually.
