Cognizant has partnered AI solutions provider Uniphore to develop industry-specific AI solutions for highly regulated industries including life sciences.

The partnership aims to create custom-built AI capabilities that are aligned with the specific needs of each industry. The solutions will be developed using Uniphore’s Business AI Cloud, which combines small language models (SLMs), AI agents, and deep industry expertise. Cognizant will lead solution development, deployment, and client delivery.

According to the companies, domain-specific AI approaches can deliver greater precision, control, and efficiency, particularly in highly regulated industries.

The companies plan to co-develop initial sets of solutions for life sciences, banking and capital markets. Each solution will combine a domain-specific SLM with prebuilt AI agents designed to support specific industry workflows. The companies plan to expand the number of industries supported over time.

“This partnership seeks to incorporate our industry expertise into solutions that are practical, governable, and ready to operate at scale,” said Ravi Kumar S, Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant.

Uniphore’s CEO and co-founder Umesh Sachdev said that large companies are ready for AI that delivers real business impact, requiring systems purpose-built for their most critical workflows.
