Canoga Perkins, Druid partner on resilient 5G

Canoga Perkins and Druid Software have demonstrated a private 5G network featuring Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability (FRER). The partnership aims to provide lossless data delivery for mission-critical applications in mining and industrial automation.

The technical demonstration utilised Canoga Perkins’ SyncMetra platform to protect traffic between Druid’s Raemis core and the Radio Access Network (RAN). The system achieved hitless failover, ensuring continuous video and data traffic during simulated network disruptions.

Technical components of the joint solution include:

  • SyncMetra software-defined 5G transport with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)
  • Raemis 3GPP-compliant core network platform
  • Support for network slicing and REST API integration
  • Compatibility with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware
  • Radio-agnostic architecture for integration with various RAN vendors

Malik Arshad, president of Canoga Perkins, said the collaboration is focused on creating end-to-end solutions for critical industrial use cases. The companies are currently developing further integrations for 5G TSN to support deterministic performance in autonomous systems.

Canoga Perkins provides network solutions for utilities, military, and government agencies. Ireland-based Druid Software specialises in private cellular technology for 4G and 5G core network functions.
