Autodesk is acquiring MaintainX, a maintenance and operations software provider, for $3.6 billion in an all-cash transaction to expand its industrial operations platform.
The acquisition will lead to the formation of Autodesk Operations Solutions (AOS), a unified platform integrating digital twins, performance analysis, and maintenance workflows. MaintainX provides software for managing work orders, asset inspections, and operational data, which Autodesk intends to link with its existing design and manufacturing tools.
MaintainX is expected to generate more than $135 million in annualised recurring revenue (ARR) for the 2026 calendar year, representing a growth rate of over 50 per cent. Autodesk plans to fund the purchase using cash on hand and debt financing.
“Our goal with MaintainX is to bring deep operational expertise, contextual data, and workflows that enhance our ability to use AI to converge digital and physical worlds,” said Andrew Anagnost, CEO of Autodesk.
The transaction is subject to regulatory review and is expected to close later this fiscal year.
Once integrated, the platform will provide data on asset history and maintenance patterns, allowing industrial customers to use AI for predictive maintenance and reducing equipment downtime.
