Media transport hardware manufacturer Artel Video Systems announced the release of a 10-gigabit Ethernet switch engineered for precise timing in factory automation and broadcast networks.

The Quarra PTP-10GSE12SFP switch features 12 fibre ports and eight copper gigabit ports, functioning as both a leaf and spine switch within a single ruggedised unit. The hardware delivers nanosecond-accurate timing by supporting IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol version 2 across all clocking modes.

The device includes a 256-gigabit-per-second switch fabric and provides eight priority queues per port. Every interface can be individually configured for synchronous Ethernet, while a built-in connector supports external clock sources and waveform measurement.

Tim Godby, director of media transport systems at Artel, said the inclusion of single or dual power supplies and multiple input options makes the switch a versatile component for timing-sensitive networks.
