Indian wearable health technology firm Ultrahuman has acquired Connecticut-based Vio HealthTech and launched Cycle & Ovulation Pro for its Ring Air product.

Rolling out in the USA, UK, EU, Australia and Canada as a plug-in for Ring Air, Cycle & Ovulation Pro boasts over 90% accuracy for ovulation confirmation.

Most menstrual tracking platforms are built for women with regular 28-day cycles. In reality, most have diverse cycle patterns, and those with conditions such as non-bleeding, PCOS, endometriosis or thyroid disorders often don’t get an accurate or supportive experience.

Ultrahuman’s acquisition of Vio is designed for them.

Cycle & Ovulation Pro leverages an adaptation of Vio’s OvuSense technology, taken from its class II medical device fertility and cycle monitor, and reconfigures it for consumer wellness tracking. OvuSense was developed over 15 years, trained on a dataset of more than 260,000 cycles collected with medical-grade sensors, and validated in 13 peer-reviewed clinical publications.

Cycle & Ovulation Pro is designed for the reality of human biology not the hypothetical 28-day cycle. It complements Ultrahuman Ring Air’s existing free Cycle & Ovulation PowerPlug and adapts to the variability women experience throughout their lives, offering personalised wellness insights that reflect actual data rather than assumptions.

The tracking accuracy is validated through rigorous equivalence testing using LH and progesterone rise, building on prior OvuSense clinical studies, now adapted for wellness.

It provides guidance for women with a wide range of cycle types, providing accurate ovulation confirmation. Temperature data are used to suggest hidden patterns supporting better personal understanding of cycle variability. Trends include early or late ovulation, short luteal phase, the absence of ovulation, and proprietary patterns that may be related to conditions such as PCOS or miscarriage risk.

Designed for diverse cycles, it works reliably for 87% of women who don’t have a textbook 28-day cycle – including those with PCOS or endometriosis – in tracking and understanding their cycles.

Wearers can log mood, symptoms and behaviour in relation to cycle phases to help identify longer-term personal wellness trends.

The Cycle & Ovulation Pro PowerPlug is designed for general wellness use. The Cycle & Ovulation Pro PowerPlug and Ultrahuman Ring Air should not be regarded as a substitute for professional medical diagnosis or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider.

Accuracy was determined using internal equivalence testing standard analysis comparing OvuSense plus Ring Air output with a multi-hormone ovulation prediction method, and registered in the OvuSense technical file.

Vio HealthTech is ISO 13485 and MDSAP certified as a medical device manufacturer.

The original OvuSense algorithm is FDA-cleared for intravaginal use in Vio’s regulated product. In the Ultrahuman Ring Air, the algorithm is adapted for general wellness use and is not FDA-cleared.

“This collaboration benefits from 15 years of clinically proven women’s health expertise and applies it to the world’s lightest smart ring,” said Mohit Kumar, CEO of Ultrahuman (www.ultrahuman.com). “For the first time, best-in-class hardware, software and algorithms with a clinical background come together in one wellness device. Our mission is to give women cutting-edge tools to optimise their health, combining clinical technology with comfort and style to deliver the most accurate women’s health tool available.”

Rob Milnes, CEO of Vio HealthTech (www.ovusense.com), added: “Wearables will shape the future of health. We’re delighted to be able to bring OvuSense women’s health insights to a significantly wider audience via the Ultrahuman Ring Air.”

Cycle & Ovulation Pro uses an adapted temperature-sensing algorithm originally developed for Vio’s OvuSense fertility monitors. When applied to the Ring Air, it enables adaptive, cycle-aware tracking via the finger for consumer wellness tracking.

It allows for personalised insights that adapt over time, enabling a better understanding of how individual cycles evolve across life stages and contexts.

Unlike traditional period trackers, which rely on static averages and calendar-based predictions, Cycle & Ovulation Pro collects physiological patterns and temperature biomarkers captured passively via the Ring Air, framing this clinically validated heritage as a wellness feature for everyday use.
