Remote patient monitoring specialist Smart Meter has launched a blood glucose monitor for gestational diabetes that simplifies monitoring and blood glucose management for patients, and gives care providers immediate access to testing results.

Between 2% to 10% of pregnancies are typically affected by gestational diabetes. Usually tested around week 24 of pregnancy, gestational diabetes can be effectively controlled if blood glucose is monitored and care is overseen by a provider.

Smart Meter’s iGlucose’s comes with cellular connectivity which ensures immediately transmission of blood glucose data upon testing, delivering critical high and low readings in real-time to providers. Results can be viewed immediately by care providers who can react rapidly to adjust diet or medicines, potentially reducing costs and trips to the hospital.

For patients, iGlucose eliminates logbooks and faxes, and reduces phone calls, and provides immediate feedback on results from clinicians.
