Taiwanese industrial IoT firm Advantech has introduced application-focused edge AI products for medical AI systems such as surgical robots, image analysis and diagnostics.

Powered by Nvidia Jetson Thor modules, which are said to set a benchmark for edge AI, they deliver up to 2070 FP4 TFlops of AI performance, along with improvements in CPU performance and energy efficiency. These make Nvidia Jetson Thor suitable for integrating AI and application workloads at the edge.

Advantech brings this power to real-world applications through hardware and software integration targeting robotics, medical AI and data AI. Each features application-specific hardware platforms, pre-integrated with JetPack 7.0, remote management tools and vertical software suites such as Robotic Suite and GenAI Studio.

Built on a container-based architecture, these offer flexibility and faster development cycles. In addition to providing Nvidia Jetson Thor boards, systems, and software design-in services for vertical applications, Advantech collaborates closely with ecosystem partners on technologies such as sensor and camera integration, as well as thermal design. This holistic approach is said to empower developers to build and deploy edge AI applications faster, more easily and more efficiently, delivering a seamless and powerful AI experience at the edge.

By leveraging Nvidia Jetson Thor (www.nvidia.com/en-us/autonomous-machines/embedded-systems/jetson-thor/) with SDKs such as Holoscan and MonAI, Advantech empowers medical AI board AIMB-294 and system EPC-T5294. These platforms accelerate real-time sensor processing, image analysis and streaming AI pipeline, pre-trained model and 3D imaging optimisation, and surgical robotics focus with low latency and precision for operating rooms, clinical workflows and intelligent diagnostic tools.

The firm has also introduced robotic controllers for humanoid robots, AMRs and unmanned vehicles as well as data AI systems for VLM, LLM and multi-camera AI vision analysis.

The Advantech (www.advantech.com) container catalogue delivers a cluster of ready-to-develop edge AI applications, including end-to-end computer vision and edge LLM environments optimised for AI agent integration on Nvidia Jetson platforms. It also offers domain-specific options from ecosystem partners such as robotics perception, surgical imaging, healthcare and smart city sensing, enabling rapid deployment across industrial and vertical markets.
